Hi All,

Over the last few months we have been doing significant work on the Bluetrait platform. Almost all our core features have seen many improvements.

We have been slowly pushing them out over the last couple of months but we thought that it was time we listed them all!


  • Major upgrades to file attachment handling in Tickets and Replies. Files attached to replies are now separated from the original ticket, it is also possible to see who attached the file, how big it is and when it was attached. Just click the "Attachments" button in the top left of the ticket.
  • Bluetrait now automatically adds {No Subject} to POP downloaded emails if the subject was empty.
  • Checkbox is now an option in custom fields.


  • Adding projects via the API is now possible.
  • Drag and drop file upload for attachments on the view project page.
  • Various permission improvements and options so that people can view projects but not edit them.


  • Guest Portal, you can now allow users to view a copy of the invoice online, the payment status and to download again.
  • Monthly and Cumulative Invoice Reports (with option to break down per company). Up to 3 financial years worth of data can be shown on each graph.
  • New Invoice Template (called Cover Page). This is recommended for users who are primarily invoicing items from the timesheets, it provides a significantly better look and feel.
  • Option to import Timesheet items for a specific user only.
  • Invoice Receipt PDF
  • You can now CC invoices to others, this is saved so that they will get overdue invoices notices as well.
  • Show which timesheets per user were included in an invoice (on the invoice index page)
  • You can now set a location to include an address on the invoice
  • You can now import project custom fields in to the invoice description


  • Clone Timesheet Line Items
  • You can now drag and drop timesheet types so that you can order them how you like (in Settings -> Timesheets)
  • Now able to use either minute billing or hourly billing when entering time
  • Timesheet Line Items are now ordered by date
  • Per User Per Project Billable Hourly Rates


  • Expense Approvals (works in the same manner as timesheets)
  • Expense Report (By Company, Project and User)
  • Export all expense attachments as Zips

New Website & Features

We're pleased to announce another round of updates.

Firstly we have a new website! As Bluetrait has grown to be more than just a help-desk system we needed a new website to reflect the product.

We think it looks great, check it out.

We're working to add more content to better highlight some of the great new features of Bluetrait, but for now we're very happy with it.

Now on to some great new features we've just released.

For Expenses

As staff expenses is a very new feature we have a lot of work to do to get them working exactly how you want. This update goes a long way to improving managing expenses.

  • You can now filter expenses by date.
  • You can now export expenses to CSV file.
  • We've added a new "name" field for quick entry.
  • You can now import expenses directly into invoices (the new name field is used on the invoice line item) and these expenses are marked as billed once the invoice is saved.

For Timesheets

  • We've created a new edit window in the Timesheet Approval section so that you can now easily make a quick change to a timesheet item if a staff member made a mistake or a change needs to be made after a timesheet has been submitted for approval.

For Invoices

  • Line items are now automatically sorted by date.
  • Some number formatting fixes with displaying costs.

Improvements to Timesheets/Projects and Invoices

We are very pleased to announce a major upgrade to the Timesheets, Project Management and Invoicing modules.

We've got a range of new features for you.

For Timesheets

  • Staff expenses. Staff can now log expenses for you to bill and pay. You can categorise expenses, mark them as paid and/or billed, upload multiple files (such as receipts), log against a company/project and enter a description. Managers can bulk mark them as paid/billed. You can access this new feature by clicking you name in the top right and then selecting expenses (after enabling the timesheets plugin).
  • Day billing. You can now set specific timesheet types as "Day Billable", meaning you don't need to enter a time for these types.
  • On the Timesheet Approval page we've added a link to all unpaid items and displayed the number of hours.
  • As part of the project management module upgrade you can now set default hourly and default day rates. When importing these items into invoices these rates are now used.
  • You can now set a project for time added against a ticket that isn't currently part of a project.

For Projects

  • You can now create project ticket templates, allowing you to bulk add tickets to a project based on the templates you have setup.
  • Project tickets with a due date will now send an email to the assigned user a day before the ticket is used alerting them.
  • You can now hide project tickets from the ticket index page.

For Billing

  • When importing timesheet items you can now select one or more projects to import (or not import).
  • When importing timesheet items you can now choose to display the project and staffs name on each line item.

We have a lot more planned for these modules this year, but we are very excited by many of these improvements.

Release 5

Hi All,

We've just pushed through a minor release. This fixes a few bugs and adds a couple of new features.

New Features

  • Gallery for files and private files on view ticket page (so that you can view attached images without downloading them). Either view as gallery or jump straight to the specific image.
  • You are now able to set the default status for a ticket for each POP3 account for incoming emails. Giving you more flexibility to handle your incoming requests
  • User index page now shows when the account was added.
  • Show Opened/Closed button now sets limit to 250.
  • Ticket Ajax views now displays approximate time ago.

We are about to roll out a range of updates for Project Management, Timesheets and Billing which will be very useful.

Invoicing/Billing and Calendars

Another great round of updates today.


We are pleased to announce billing. The basic features include:

  • Invoice status including Draft/Unpaid/Overdue, with auto mark as Overdue
  • PDF and email PDF invoice
  • Tax, Discount, Quantity and Price options for each line item.
  • Export list of invoices to CSV
  • Bulk mark invoices as Paid/Unpaid etc
  • Filter and search invoices by Company and Status
  • Import Timesheets (by Company, Product, Date) to create an invoice.

We think this plugin will be very useful, when tied into Projects and Timesheets it becomes a very powerful and yet easy to use invoicing system.

You can enable this plugin from Settings -> Plugins


Another great plugin to extend tickets.

Features include:

  • Multi User Calendar
  • Individual Calendar per User
  • Global View (see all events for all users on one calendar)
  • Email events sent for events for other users
  • ICS files to allow downloading or read-only sync of calendar to mobile devices or computers
  • Month/Week/Day Views
